Tamarind Village is set in the heart of the historic city of Chiang Mai, located 700 kms. north of Bangkok. The hotel is conveniently situated fifteen minutes from the airport, train station and bus terminal and only ten minutes from the night bazaar and riverside restaurants. Within a five to fifteen minute walk of the hotel are Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Phra Singh, the Lanna Architectural Musuem, the Three Kings Monument and several other important temples and historic sites like the Tha-Pae Gate, Wat Umong Mahatherachan and Wat Phan On.

Concept :

Tamarind Village is a unique and charming boutique property that nestles in the heart of historic Chiang Mai. Surrounded by ancient temples and quaint shopping streets, it takes its name from a magnificent 200 year old tamarind tree that shelters the hotel in a shady embrace. Set around a series of garden courtyards, the 38 guest rooms and 2 suites reflect the rich ethnic diversity of northern Thailand by using fabrics and patterns drawn from the various tribes of the region. Intimate, serene and relaxing, Tamarind Village is an oasis of calm and tranquility, the perfect base for exploring Chiang Mai and beyond.

Tamarind Village’s rooms exude a rustic ambiance that is casual yet simply elegant. The rooms are decorated in a fresh contemporary style that draws on the rich tradition of northern Thailand’s tribal people as well as Chiang Mai’s vibrant design community for the runners, throw rugs and accessories.

All rooms feature modern, fully equipped bathrooms. The ongoing renovation and upgrading of our rooms is scheduled to be completed by November 2006.

11 out of the Lanna Deluxe rooms have private balconies, whilst the other two Lanna Deluxe rooms have bathtubs.

We are happy to provide a number of facilities and hotel services that include concierge and travel desk, car rental, laundry and dry cleaning and babysitting. A Boutique and a Library will be available to our guests upon completion of our renovation program scheduled for November 2006. A Spa will be completed in February 2007.

Ruen Tamarind Restaurant

Ruen Tamarind provides indoor or open-air dining on the swimming pool terrace and offers a variety of mouthwatering Thai and International dishes in a contemporary setting.  Our restaurant also offers a selection of authentic Northern Thai dishes prepared in our kitchen from original family recipes that have been handed down from mother to daughter over generations.

Dinner : 06.00 p.m. - 11.00 p.m.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is set in a courtyard filled with tropical plants and flowers. Measuring 7.65 by 17.60 meters with a depth of 1.65 meters surrounded by comfortable recliners with parasols, this is the perfect place to relax with a book or take a refreshing dip. Ruen Tamarind provides a selection of drinks and cocktails served on the pool terrace.

Spa

Until our own Spa is operational in February 2007, guests can treat themselves to a massage and a variety of spa treatments at the Oasis Spa, just 5 minutes from the hotel by car. The Oasis Spa offers a complete menu of treatments and therapies, including massages, scrubs, wraps, facials, Jacuzzi and steam baths.
